I wanted to share some exciting news. I was recently featured in The Mirror, where I spoke about the unique challenges Black entrepreneurs face when seeking investment.
I also want to take a moment to talk about Black Pound Day, an initiative that is incredibly close to my heart.
On 27th June, the Black Pound Day initiative officially launches. It is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we support one another and make conscious choices about where we spend our money.
Many people are unaware of just how much spending power we have. Here in the UK alone, the Black community contributes an estimated £300 billion to the economy every year.
Yet for far too long, much of that money has been spent with businesses that do not represent us, respect us or reinvest back into our communities. Black Pound Day presents an opportunity to change that and to take control of our collective economic impact.
However, Black Pound Day needs to be more than just a single day. It needs to become a lifestyle.
Of course, I would love for you to support Nylah’s Naturals, but what matters most is that you are researching the brands you buy from, learning about the founders behind them and ensuring those businesses are actively investing back into the community.
If we are to achieve true economic participation, buying Black must become a habit that extends far beyond hashtags and trends.
In light of Black Pound Day, I am happy to share that our conditioner will be back in stock in a couple of weeks. In preparation for this, we will be opening pre-orders from 27th June and offering special discounts on the day as a thank you for your patience and continued support.
As we move forward, I want to remind you to stay strong and keep smiling even when things feel difficult.
We are a team and we have come a long way together. There is still more work to do, but the only way we will reach our goals is by supporting one another and moving forward together.
